Two people taken to hospital following three-vehicle crash in Borders

A man and a woman have been taken to hospital following a three-vehicle crash in the Borders.

The collision took place on the A698 road between Bonjedward and Denholm shortly before 10am this morning (Monday).

The road was closed for around two hours while the scene was made safe, but has since reopened.

Police say investigations are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called to a report of a three vehicle crash on the A698 near Newton, Jedburgh around 9.50am on Monday, 3 April, 2023. 

"The drivers of two of the vehicles, a man and a woman, were taken by ambulance to Borders General Hospital. 

"The road was reopened around 12pm and enquiries are ongoing."
