Motorists on A68 warned of 'major disruption' ahead
Last updated 17th May 2024
Motorists on the A68 are being warned of major disruption ahead.
The cross-border route is set to close just south of the Carter Bar between 9am and 3pm each day for up to a MONTH.
It's to allow for road dressing works, including new anti-skid and road markings, along a five-kilometre stretch between the Scotland-England border and Catcleugh.
Northumberland County Council say buses and emergency services will still be allowed through.
But motorists who need to get to Newcastle Airport are being urged to plan ahead.

The notice reads: "The Order is to be effective from the 20th May 2024 until the 20th June 2024.
"It is expected that the road will only be closed from the 20th May 2024 until the 31st May 2024 between the hours of 09:00- 15:00 during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 20th June 2024.
"The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the A68, A69, A689, A7 A6088 and vice versa."
Meanwhile, north of the border, BEAR Scotland has announced it intends to close the A68 overnight at Newtown St Boswells and Lilliardsedge Caravan Park, north of Jedburgh, for resurfacing works, between May 29th and June 7th.
