A 50-year-old man is due to stand trial later this year accused of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

It follows an incident which is alleged to have taken place on the A68 between Oxton and Earlston on February 2nd, 2021.

Paul McGinley, of Loanburn Avenue, Penicuik, has been charged with repeatedly swerving into the opposite side of the road, and crossing into the opposing carriageway; repeatedly changing speed in an erratic manner; driving on the grass verge, narrowly missing a roadside barrier and colliding with a van and another vehicle - causing significant damage to both vehicles.

It’s alleged this caused serious injury and permanent impairment to one man, serious injury to another, and injury to two more.

McGinley pled not guilty when he appeared at Selkirk Sheriff Court this morning (Monday), and the case was continued to trial on November 17th.
