A68 closed following second smash in two days

Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash on the A68, just south of St Boswells.

It happened on a straight section of road between the Maxton turn-off and Lilliardsedge Holiday Park.

Emergency services raced to the scene after the alarm was raised around 6.25pm on Monday (May 1st).

It's the second crash on the cross-border route in as many days.

Last night, a girl aged one was among three people taken to hospital following two-car smash near Fala. She was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh.

Both drivers - a 63-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman - were taken to to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

The man is said to be in a serious but stable condition.

Referring to the latest incident, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a crash on the A68 south of St Boswells around 6.25pm on Monday, May 1st.

"Two people have been taken to hospital and the road is currently closed."
