The A1 was closed both ways in Northumberland following a collision between a lorry and a car.

It happened close to Purdy Lodge - between the Bellshill and Warenford exits - shortly before 11.30am this morning (Tuesday).

Emergency services rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised, and local diversions were put in place until the road was cleared.

But the cross-border route has since reopened.

The extent of any injuries is unknown.
