With Wolverhampton Pride 2024 only a week away, people in the West Midlands are being encouraged to support local community events.

Headliners Denise van Outen and Duncan James will take to the stage to bring you the party while celebrating the city’s LGBT+ community, inclusivity and diversity.

Alongside Denise van Outen bringing her live DJ set and Duncan James entertaining the crowds on the Carlsberg Marston’s Plaza Stage, their line-up also includes sets from vocal drag sensation Trixie Lee, rapper Nate Ethan, musical theatre star Jaymi Hensley, male vocalist Lee Anthony, Birmingham-based queer company Fatt Projects as well as lots more.

Councillor Chris Burden, Cabinet Member for City Development, Jobs and Skills told us - local acts are just as good as big acts and stresses the importance of supporting local.

“Wolverhampton Pride goes from strength to strength, year on year – and the excitement is certainly building. Now a firm staple in the city’s events calendar, I hope to see as many people as possible coming along to be part of a day when we are all able to come together to celebrate, honour and show our support for the LGBT+ community.

"We can't get those enormous global acts, we can't get those famous international drag acts, but we can get local people trying to make a difference in their area and we want you to be part of that as well."

New features at this year’s Pride include Pride Market with some community stalls including Charlotte's Treats, Pride Colours, City of Wolverhampton College and Beanie Boy Apparel. It’s also where you’ll find the Village Stage, sponsored by the University of Wolverhampton with entertainment from 12:45pm.

Wolverhampton Pride 2024 is on Friday 7 June until Sunday 9 June. Prices are £4 for adults, £2 for concessions (12-17 years, over 65s, disabled and carer) with under 12s going free.
