Politics students from the Shrewsbury Colleges Group have been discussing what Trump's win of the US election means for us.
One of the students, Kellyn McHugh, came to the college in his Donald Trump t-shirt and campaigning cap.
"I am quite pleased with the result, as I think it will be better for global peace. Trump was the first sitting President to step foot in North Korea," he said.
"I don't think it will be very good for us in the UK to have Trump as President. Ideologically Trump and Kier Starmer are radically different," McHugh added.
Sir Keir Starmer said the UK-US special relationship will "continue to prosper" following Donald Trump's "historic election victory".
The other students explained how they had hoped for a Kamala Harris win.
"I think it will highlight problems with the voting systems.
"So many people voted against Trump but still have to have him as their president," said Maddie Naylor
Some of the students explained why they thought Trump managed to win the election.
"People are afraid of something new. Along with that far rightness is that not accepting Kamala Harris as a person, rather than her policies," said Maddie Naylor.
"Economically Trump has quite a strong record," said Rosie Finlayson.
Trump reached the required 270 electoral college votes to make the win official.
He will now make his return to the White House as the 47th President of the United States.
