Third man dies after crash in Upper Gornal
The collision happened yesterday morning
A third man has now died, after a three-vehicle collision in Upper Gornal yesterday morning (Wednesday).
The 22-year-old was taken to hospital but died yesterday afternoon, despite the efforts of medics.
Investigators are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision involving a Ford Transit van, a white Seat and a white Hyundai i20 vehicle, just after 7.30am.
A second man also aged 22 and a third man, aged 28, were pronounced dead at the scene in Kent Street.
The driver of the van was taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been discharged. All three men who have died were in the Seat car.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a truly awful tragedy and our thoughts remain with loved ones of all those affected.
“Specialist family liaison officers are continuing to supporting them at this most dreadful time.
"Investigations are progressing and we'd urge people not to speculate on the circumstances.
“If anyone has any information about the collision or any footage of the collision or the vehicles beforehand, I would ask them to get in touch with us.”
