A teenager has been seriously injured after being stabbed in West Bromwich.

The 16-year-old was injured around 4:30pm yesterday (2 Oct) on High Street.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a stabbing on High Street at 4.33pm. One ambulance, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor and a Critical Care Paramedic attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a teenage male. He was treated for serious injuries before being taken to hospital."

West Midlands Police said: "We'll continue to have visible patrols in and around the town centre throughout the coming days.

"One incident involving a weapon is one too many and we're working with partners to tackle knife crime.

"The Knife Angel has arrived in Sandwell this month and acts as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of knife violence.

"We want the monument, currently based in Oldbury Civic Square, to spark conversations within our communities around the importance of people choosing life, not knife."
