Police officers, that were father and daughter, were found exchanging offensive messages to each other regarding crime victims.

A misconduct hearing found that the pair were sending discriminatory messages to each other over Whatsapp.

The messages concerned members of the public, other staff and victims of crime, including a murder victim.

The daughter asked her father if the victims was "mangled".

He replied: "She's face down so can't see a lot. There's just a lot of blood around her head."

Their misconduct hearings summarised that the messages were sent for their own "self-amusement".

In other messages, the father used derogatory words to refer to someone with Down's Syndrome.

Other conversations included racial slurs.

They were both found guilty of gross misconduct at the hearings held in November.

The pair were known as PC Napier; their full names have not been disclosed.

West Midlands Police said that they resigned earlier this year. They stated that they would have been dismissed following the discovery of this behaviour.
