A man killed in a dog attack in Stonnall, near Walsall has been named as 52-year-old Ian Price.
He tragically died after two dogs attacked him on Main Street yesterday afternoon (14 September).
The incident also led to the local school, St. Peter's Academy, being placed on lockdown whilst the dogs were loose.
A 30-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of dogs dangerously out of control and manslaughter, remains in custody.
Staffordshire Police said: "Our investigation continues at pace as we try to understand more about events leading up to this horrendous attack.
"Both dogs, thought to be XL bullies, are dead and tests are being carried out to determine their breed.
"Our deepest sympathies remain with the family and friends of Ian.
"We also understand the shock and upset felt within the village of Stonnall.
"We've got local officers in the area - please speak to them if you need to."
People in Stonnall told us: "I've seen people walking their dogs not on a lead and no matter how well trained they are or behaved, anything can happen.
"If they are brining in dogs they just don't realise how dangerous it is to walk them without being on leads."
The attack has prompted a pledge by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to ban the breed of dog involved by the end of the year.
Mr Price's death is one of a spate of incidents involving dangerous dogs in recent days.
Another attack happened in Birmingham on Saturday, and one in Walsall on Wednesday.
An eleven year old girl was taken to hospital with bite injuries from the dog attack in Birmingham.
Extra officers remain in the Stonnall area to help locals if they need to speak to someone.
