Man attacks officers and police dog while being arrested on suspicion of arson in Wolverhampton

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a string of fires were set in Wolverhampton this morning.

The Horse and Jockey was targeted in an arson attack in Wolverhampton.

A man has been arrested after a series of arson attacks in Wolverhampton this morning.

Emergency services were called to a fire that had been started at the Horse and Jockey pub on Church Street, Bilston. No one was injured.

Cars were then targeted along Union Street, Bell Street, and Greencroft.

A man was located off Millfield Road by the police dog unit. The man threw missiles at officers and tried to strangle a police dog during his arrest. He was bitten by PD Snow and taken to hospital for treatment. PD Snow was uninjured.

The 39-year-old remains in custody on suspicion of arson with the intent to endanger life.
