Man arrested after sexual assault and attempted kidnap of teenager in Walsall

A man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and the attempted kidnap of a teenage girl in Walsall.
The 24-year-old is being questioned following the incident last Saturday (March 2).
A 17-year-old girl was walking down a street off Broadway shortly before 11pm when she was approached by a man in a vehicle who attempted to coax her into it.
When she refused he got out of the vehicle then punched and kicked her. She managed to escape and run to a nearby home for help.
Police are linking the incident to an assault on a woman in her 20’s on February 28, on Scarborough Road.
A man approached her from behind then punched her in the face where she received swelling and bruising. She managed to break free and ran to the nearest home for help.
DI Alice Moseley, from Adult Abuse, at Public Protection, said: “We are linking these two serious incidents. A man is currently in custody but our enquiries continue and we would appeal for people with information to please get in touch.”
