Man arrested after gun fired in Shrewsbury
Police were called to the Mytton Oak Road area last night
A man has been arrested over reports of someone with a gun in Shrewsbury.
West Mercia Police say that's linked to a fight which broke out in Mytton Oak Road last night (Thursday 9th November).
Officers say they were alerted to two men fighting at around 7pm.
They later found out a gun had gone off - leaving a 23 year old with an injury of his hand, which is not thought to be serious.
A 35 year old's in custody and police have stepped up patrols in the area.
They say their enquiries are continuing and they're happy to answer any questions or concerns people may have.
Chief Inspector Mark Reilly said:
“We know incidents of this nature can be concerning for our local communities and will have officers, including police community support officers, in the area to offer reassurance. If anyone is concerned I would urge them to speak to an officer.
“Our enquiries into the incident are on-going and we have a man in police custody. If anyone has information that could help with our enquiries please get in contact.”
