Line Of Duty secured its most-watched episode on Sunday night (25 April).

The penultimate episode of the police procedural, created by Jed Mercurio, earned an average of 11 million viewers and 51.7% of the audience share, according to the broadcaster.

The sixth series of the BBC One show, starring Vicky McClure, Adrian Dunbar, Martin Compston and Kelly Macdonald, will come to an end this weekend (2 May).

The final episode on Sunday will see the search for "H'' - the corrupt officer responsible for the mass conspiracy - come to an end.

So, ahead of it, our Chief Reporter Megan Jones sat down with actor Gregory Piper who first appeared as Ryan Pilkington in the first series of Line of Duty:

What was it like playing Ryan?

It's been amazing, the response has been fantastic.

To play such a "baddie" has been a lot of fun.

Your character was hated towards the end, what was that like for you?

I was quite flattered actually, because that's the point isn't it? Trying to get everyone really annoyed at him because he's a horrible character.

The response has been amazing.

You were in it from the beginning, what do you remember about the first series?

I just remember it being a whirlwind, an absolute dream.

To call it 'work' was amazing.

It was just this magical land I got to visit, and then it was amazing to get called back, that was never in my head that it would happen.

Did you know you'd be back again?

No, not at all.

Before series 5, I had a call about re-joining, it was amazing and insane, I never thought it would happen.

The show has grown in popularity, what's it been like to see that?

It's really nice having been involved, having seen the show and team get all the recognition it deserves.

The whole team is fantastic.

Were you happy with how Ryan's story line developed?

Yes definitely, I have full trust in Jed, he runs the characters until it serves the story for them to go.

I'm really happy he got brought back and was able to shine.

Will you be watching the final episode on Sunday?

Of course, all my family are getting together on FaceTime and we're going to watch it together.

We're really excited for the finale, it's really exciting.

Do you know what happens?

In a roundabout way, I just know it's going to be brilliant.

Do you know who "H" is?

In the words of Joanne Davidson, no comment.
