Explosion and fire at flat in Burntwood deemed accidental

A man is still in a critical condition in hospital after the incident

The explosion and subsequent fire at a flat in Burntwood has been deemed accidental by fire investigators.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Chase Road, Burntwood, at around 9:10pm on Monday night (28th Oct).

It was following reports of an explosion.

A two-storey flat was damaged by the explosion where it's furniture and smashed windows lay on the ground below.

A man, in his 20's, suffered serious burns and was taken to hospital.

He remains in a critical condition.

No-one else was injured.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue had been investigating the fire and have determined it was accidental.
