A man from Dudley's been jailed after he broke into a home and stole a car and other valuables.

John Nomikos from Brierley Hill was sentenced to three years in prison at Wolverhampton Crown Court last Friday (2 February) for the offence, which occurred in December last year.

The 22-year-old broke into a house in Stamford Road, Brierley Hill, overnight on Sunday 10 December, before stealing a handbag containing a purse, a watch and the keys to the owner’s car. Nomikos then made his escape in the vehicle which was parked outside.

Nomikos was identified as a suspect following a search of the property and gathering forensic evidence.

Nomikos was arrested and charged within days and appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court for an initial hearing on Saturday 16 December. The car has been retrieved and handed back to its owner.

During our investigation, Nomikos also admitted to his involvement in 42 other dwelling burglary offences and these were taken into consideration when he was handed his three-year sentence last week. Nomikos was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £228.
