Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of murder after a teenager was fatally stabbed in Wolverhampton.

Harleigh Hepworth, 17, from Staffordshire, was discovered with fatal wounds at West Park on Thursday (7 March), at around 4.30pm.

Detectives arrested the boy last night (Saturday) and he is currently in custody as enquiries continue.

Speaking near the scene on Friday, Chief Superintendent Richard Fisher of Wolverhampton Police said: "We know how destructive and cruel knife crime is and we are working with partners across the city to educate youngsters, support those who are vulnerable and help our children stay safe.

"That work will continue as we will not tolerate such violence on our streets."

Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with any information to get in touch.

A Major Incident Public Portal, has also been set up where people can submit any photos or video, which may assist the investigation.
