Birmingham Airport passengers urged to plan ahead as Easter bank holiday getaway begins
The airport is expecting a surge in passenger numbers over the next week.

People heading away over the Easter Bank Holiday are being urged to plan ahead, as Birmingham Airport is expecting a surge in passenger numbers.
More than 610,000 customers are flying out over the next two weeks, which is a 27.2% increase on last Easter.
Work is continuing on the airport's new security hall, so temporary measures remain in place until June.
A BHX Spokesperson said: "It is set to be a busy few weeks for Birmingham Airport as our ‘summer’ flying season begins and the start of the Easter holidays. Over 610,000 customers are due to fly out between the 22nd March and the 8th April, a 27.2% increase on last Easter.
“Customers are taking advantage of some of our new and existing destinations, the most popular being Dublin, Amsterdam, Dubai, Tenerife and Alicante.
“The airport will be very busy. Customers are reminded that existing security rules still apply for liquids, pastes, gels and electricals.
"Remove all liquids, pastes and gels under 100ml from bags and place in a resealable bag.
"Ensure all larger electrical items such as laptops, kindles and tablets are removed from their protective covers, and take-off all belts and overcoats."
“Our new security search area is still under construction, which will be complete by June 2024. This major construction project means we have less space upstairs in the terminal for customers to queue. Instead, most of our security queuing is now downstairs.
"This does not add to our customers’ journey times. It is, rather, just a different queuing arrangement while we build the new pre-flight screening area.”
