An Emergency Appeal set up after the death of Jeremy "Jack" Daw has raised hundreds in just a few days for his family.

On Saturday (24th) Jeremy was killed in an incident whilst on duty in Herefordshire.

The ambulance crew were on route to a 999 call when an object struck the ambulance’s windscreen at 8am.

It happened at the junction of Moreton Road and the A49.

"Jack" retired last year after nearly 30 years’ service but returned in January this year to work as an Emergency Medical Technician during the pandemic.

In a tribute, West Midlands Ambulance Service’s Emergency Services Operations Delivery Director, Nathan Hudson, said:

“Jeremy (Jack) was a long serving member of staff with nearly 30 years’ service who always put patient care at the heart of everything he did. He was one of life’s good guys.

“He loved his family, his colleagues and his patients. He was a loving husband, father and a fantastic member of our team and will be missed dearly.

“Our key focus at the minute is ensuring we do everything to support his family and also our staff".

Over the weekend, the 'In Our Hearts' initiative, set up an Emergency Appeal for "Jack's" family.

The initiative was launched by Matt James and Jason Clelland, two serving ambulance staff on 12th June 2020 following the loss of so many colleagues before and during the pandemic.

They support the charities "that support our dedicated, and hard working ambulance crews, paid, or volunteer.

"Every single penny donated goes to these charities."

So far (27 April), they've raised £927 for the family of "Jack" to do "what they would really like".
