AFC Telford are asking fans for help, after this week's torrential weather caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Severe thunderstorms and rain hit the stadium badly on Thursday.

The club say that several volunteers have tried to help, but the club will still face large financial outlay to get the stadium back in shame. The club is also expected to lose money, by not being able to host matches.

A fundraiser, set up online, says: "You will by now have seen that the football club has been affected by flooding following the severe thunderstorms and rainfall that impacted the Wellington area particularly badly on Thursday, September 26th.

"Whilst several volunteers have stepped forward to help the club ‘on the ground,’ the club will undoubtedly face unanticipated financial outlay on remedial works to get the SEAH Stadium back into shape.

"There is also the potential for lost income should the club be unable to host matches, so the effect of such an event has, appropriately, a ripple effect."

Over two and a half thousand pounds has been raised so far.
