Ice warning in Berkshire and North Hampshire
We could also see some light snow
Last updated 8th Jan 2024
We're being warned ice could be an issue through this evening and tonight (8th January)
A yellow warning from the Met Office affecting Berkshire and North Hampshire is in place from 3pm until the early hours of Tuesday (3am 9th January).
Temperatures are expected to drop significantly throughout today and overnight with lows of 0 °C and there is also a chance we could see small amounts of snow in Surrey and East Hampshire.
An amber cold health alert is in place from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) for much of the UK including the South East of England and it’ll stay for most of this week.
UKHSA says it means the cold snap we are getting this week could have an impact on the NHS warning the cold weather can increase the risk of things like heart attacks, strokes and chest infections.
The big freeze follows Storm Henk last Tuesday, which has left parts of Berkshire and North Hampshire flooded.
What to Expect according to the Met Office
Perhaps some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
Some injuries from slips and falls on icy or snowy surfaces
