Woman from Newbury charged in connection with baby death

It follows the death of one-month old Colby Lawton last year

A woman has been charged in connection with an investigation into the death of a one-month old baby which occurred last year in Newbury.

Chantelle Stroud, aged 25, of Ashridge Court, Newbury, has been charged today (29/6) with one count of causing or allowing the death of a child, and one count of assault, ill-treatment, neglect, or abandoning a child to cause unnecessary suffering.

The charge is in connection with the death of one-month-old Colby Lawton, which occurred on 9 May 2020 in Newbury.

On 25 May this year, James Lawton, aged 27, of Boreham Field, Warminster, Wiltshire, was charged with one count of murder and one count of GBH with intent in relation to the incident.
