The police have launched an investigation into the incident
The police have launched an investigation after a woman in her eighties died in a house fire in Slough on Saturday evening (22nd July).
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service were told of reports of a fire in Welland Close at around 6pm that evening.
The fire was soon extinguished but two people were inside the property, including a woman who sadly died at scene.
Her next of kin have been informed and have been offered support.
The other person was a man in his thirties, who suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
Inspector Ryan Powell, based at Slough police station, said: “Firstly, our thoughts and condolences are with the victim’s loved ones during this extremely difficult time.
“Our investigation, alongside the fire service, is in its early stages but the fire is not deemed to be suspicious at this time.
“But, our officers and the fire service will be at the scene for some time while our investigation progresses.
“There is no risk to other houses or individuals but anyone with concerns is welcome to speak to one of our uniformed officers."
Officers would like anyone who knows anything about the fire to contact Thames Valley Police by calling 101.
