Elderly woman's death in Basingstoke no longer suspicious

Police say a man arrested at the scene will have no further action taken against him

Police in basingstoke say the death of an elderly woman last week is no longer being treated as suspicious.

They were called to Schubert Road last Thursday morning after a woman in her seventies was found with fatal injuries.

A 72-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder - but Police say he'll face not further action.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said:

"We can now confirm that following extensive enquiries the woman’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

"The 72-year-old man who was initially arrested will have no further action taken against him.

"Next-of-kin have been informed and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
