Woman assaulted in Newbury
Police appeal for member of the public who asked about her welfare to come forward

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an assault in Newbury.
At some time between 11pm yesterday (12/8) and 12.30am today (13/8), the victim, a woman aged in her forties, was assaulted by a man she was in company with, as she approached Greenham Gardens on the A339.
A member of the public, who was not involved in the assault, approached her to ask if she was ok, and the victim then continued walking up the A339 footpath towards the Nightingales Estate.
Just before the bridge to cross the A339 to the Nightingales Estate, the victim was assaulted again by the same man she was in company with.
The member of the public is described as a white man with white hair and a red Hawaiian-style patterned shirt.
Offender
The offender is described as a man, around 5ft 9ins tall with a stocky build, a shaven head and a white beard.
He had tattoos and was wearing a hooded vest, multi-coloured trainers and a black cap with a Monster energy drink logo.
The victim sustained injuries, which did not require hospital treatment.

Investigating officer PC Katie Russell, based at Newbury police station, said: “I am appealing to anybody who witnessed these assaults to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.
“I am particularly keen to hear from the member of the public who checked on the victim’s welfare, as I believe he will have vital information that can assist this investigation.
