Complaints about Wokingham's non-slippery 'Ice Rink'

The council say they should have made it clearer it was a synthetic surface

Wokingham Borough Council have been forced to apologise after their first-ever Ice rink drew complaints from users.

The Council opened the Cantley Park attraction for the Christmas season at the end of last week but have received negative feedback about the experience.

Biggest of all has been the fact that the 'ice rink' isn't ice at all, but a synthetic surface that some users said wasn't slippery enough.

Other moans included a lack of toilets and no festive music at the venue.

The council has said sorry and say they'll try and make the surface slippier whilst maintaining safety.

They also conceded that they hadn't been clear enough about stating it was a synthetic surface.

They've also taken onboard other feedback and say they 'want to make it right' for anyone who was unhappy by offering either a free soft play session at Loddon Valley Leisure Centre or a free swimming session at Bulmershe.

The council did say they'd received some positive comments as well, and said they looked forward to welcoming more residents in the future.
