Warm clothing appeal launched in Reading
A pop up shop at Reading station will giveaway the winter clothing for free
People in Reading are being asked to donate their spare good quality winter coats, fleeces, hats, gloves and scarves so they can be reused effectively.
Reading Basingstoke Community Rail Partnership is working with Reading Borough Council’s Community Safety Partnership, Network Rail and Great Western Railway, to encourage the people of Reading to donate preloved surplus winter wear to anyone who can make use of it and to avoid it going to landfill or just sitting unused in a wardrobe.
This week a spare retail unit in the Brunel Arcade at Reading Station has been converted into a Pop Free Shop.
Everyone is welcome to donate their good quality winter coats, fleeces, hats, gloves and scarves.
Organiser Lucy Lomax said:
“As a partnership, we were overwhelmed by the success of the Winter Warmer last year and we so are so pleased to be bringing the event back again. We would be happy for anyone to call or come along and visit the free pop-up shop – without the support of volunteers and the community we could not put on this event – this includes the local press. Thank you for all your support in recycling your unwanted, good quality winter clothing.”
