Visiting suspended at Wexham Park Hospital
The NHS Trust says it is down to rising coronavirus cases
Visiting has been suspended at a Berkshire hospital because of coronavirus.
Wexham Park Hospital says with covid cases rising they have made the move to protect staff and patients.
The change came into affect on New Year's Day.
In an online statement Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust said:
"As the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 continues to rise, we have taken the difficult decision to stop visiting at our Frimley Park and Wexham Park sites for the time being.
"The health and wellbeing of our patients, visitors and staff remains our key priority, and this decision is part of our infection control measures to minimise the transfer of COVID-19 between visitors, patients and staff."
Maxine McVey, Deputy Director of Nursing, said:
“We understand how important visits from loved ones are for our patients, which is why this decision is not one that we have taken lightly, but our priority has to be to ensuring the safety of those in our care and those looking after them.
“Our nursing teams will update each patient’s next of kin regularly, so that they can keep the rest of their family and friends up to date.
“They will work with families where there are exceptional circumstances, including for example, where patients have dementia or learning disabilites. And families can visit for any patient who is deemed to be nearing the end of their life.”
