Police are appealing for witnesses following a violent robbery in Reading.

A 58-year-old man was punched, stamped-on and kicked by two men on Orts Road in the town on Monday morning around 9 o'clock.

Police say the two offenders stole the victim's house keys and ran away.

Between 8.55am and 9am on Monday (5/4) the victim, a 58-year-old man, was in Orts Road when he was approached by two men who struck him, causing him to fall to the ground. The men then kicked and stamped on him while he was on the ground.

The victim required treatment for an ankle injury at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and has since been discharged.

Descriptions

The first offender is described as black, 5ft 10ins, of medium build and was wearing a grey Parka style coat with a red hooded top underneath.

The second offender is described as Asian, also 5ft 10ins, of slim build and was wearing grey jogging trousers and a denim jacket. Both are aged approximately 20 years old.

Investigating officer PC Thomas Wheatman, based at Reading police station, said:

“I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the robbery, which took place in daylight hours. Police received a number of calls regarding the incident after members of the public heard shouting coming from the street so it is likely more people have heard and seen what happened. The offenders ran away on to Kings Road and towards Reading town centre.”

Anyone who has any information which could assist the investigation should call the 24-hour non-emergency number 101 or make a report online, quoting the reference 43210142301.
