Basingstoke Fire Station vaccination centre closes

The centre vaccinated more than 154,000 people in just over 7 months

The covid vaccination centre at Basingstoke fire station has closed after more than seven months providing vaccinations to local people.

During it's time in operation more than 154,000 covid vaccinations were delivered that's an average of 694 a day.

It's peak month was in May when just under 34,000 vaccinations were made.

The last day was Friday (10/9) when Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council leader Ken Rhatigan joined Solent NHS Trust COO David Noyes to say 'thank you' to all the dedicated staff that have worked throughout the period.

It's estimated there have been around 1,300 staff and volunteers in the 222 days it has operated.

One of the first to be vaccinated at the fire station was celebrity gardener Alan Titchmarsh!
