Police investigate 'unexplained' death in Reading

A woman was pulled from the Thames but died later

Thames Valley Police is investigating an unexplained death after a body was found near Reading yesterday (29/4).

A 55-year-old woman was recovered by members of the public from the River Thames, near Island Bohemian Bowls Club on Fry's Island, at around 2.18pm.

She was taken to hospital, where she sadly died yesterday evening.

Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Circumstances

Senior investigating officer Detective Sergeant Alexander Willis said:

“Firstly, my condolences go to the woman’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

“We are investigating the circumstances of her death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.

“There is no threat to the wider public but please speak to a uniformed officer if you are worried or concerned.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area near the river yesterday lunchtime to please contact us.
