Two killed as van collides with tree in M3 crash

Police say their next of kin have been informed

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the M3 yesterday (7 July).

Two men, a 48-year-old and a 56-year-old, both from Somerset, were pronounced dead at the scene on the southbound side, between the entry and exit slip roads for Fleet services.

Emergency crews closed the route for several hours yesterday, following the incident involving a white Iveco van.

The van left the carriageway shortly after midday and collided with a tree.

Officers have informed the men’s next of kin, who are receiving specialist support.

Enquiries as to the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing.
