It's been confirmed that Tom McIntyre has left Reading FC to join fellow League One club Portsmouth.

Tom joined the club at a young age and rose up through the academy, before signing his first professional contract in July 2016.

He was Reading's 48th Academy graduate, making his debut in December 2018, starting in a 1-1 draw away at Rotherham United.

Since then, the Scottish defender has gone on to make 117 first team appearances in all competitions, scoring 7 times, including a famous late winner away at Bramall Lane.

He is also well-known for a stoppage time equaliser in an eight-goal match against Swansea 3 days later.

Reading FC have confirmed his departure and have wished the player the best.

A statement on the club website read: "everyone at the club would like to wish Tom the very best of luck in his career."

Tom McIntyre said on social media:

"Playing for Reading has been a privilege and a dream come true for me.

"In one of, if not, the toughest year the club has seen, I want to thank all the fans that have continued to support us through the ups and downs, so thank you.

"Nothing will quite beat hearing your name being sung by the very fans you used to sit with.

WI never imagined it ending in this way with the last few months being very frustrating for a number of reasons.

While my time as a player may have come to an end, I go back to being a fan who hopes the issues at the club can be resolved and it can get back to being the club that we all fell in love with.

"Goodbye for now. Up the Ding."
