Thames Water bosses have had their bonuses blocked after the company triggered regulatory rules designed to tackle performance failures.
The decision is part of a wider move by water regulator Ofwat, which announced that £4 million worth of bonuses had been withheld across six UK water suppliers.
These blocks were implemented due to performance issues, including pollution.
Water companies affected include Anglian Water, Southern Water, United Utilities Water, Wessex Water, and Yorkshire Water, alongside Thames Water.
This news comes as Thames Water works through a proposed rescue deal from its lenders to secure additional investment and write off a significant portion of its debts as it faces potential nationalisation.
