Thames Valley Police prepare for open day
Last year around 4,000 people attended the event near Reading
Thames Valley Police are preparing to welcome thousands of people to their annual open day this Saturday.
The event takes place between 10 and 4 at their training centre in Sulhamstead, near Reading.
Last year, over 4,000 people were able to see behind the scenes of policing, meet Police and staff and learn what it takes to keep communities safe.
From talks to demonstrations and family friendly activities, the Police say the day promises to be full of fun for the whole family.
Opportunity
Deputy Chief Constable Ben Snuggs, said:
“Our Force Open Day is an incredible opportunity for us to showcase all the fabulous people and capabilities we have in TVP, all of which work together to protect our communities. You can also expect to experience the amazing work of a range of our departments, including our Mounted Section, Public Order and Firearms departments.”
Highlights
This year, over 60 exhibitors will be attending to showcase their work to the public and families and friends of TVP. Among those will be the Forensic Investigation Unit, Roads Policing, Major Crime and some of the staff support networks.
Partner agencies will be returning to the event including NPAS, Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service, SCAS and our Search and Rescue Teams.
Throughout the day there will be a number of demonstrations in the main arena from the Public Order Department, Dog Section, Mounted Section, Firearms and Tactical Cycle Teams.
There'll be live music performances from TVP Vocals, Mr Grey's Jailhouse Jukebox and Reading Concert Band.
In Holdsworth Hall, a number of talks will take place providing a deeper insight into some of the roles within the force, including some more educational pieces from Contact Management and the Violence Prevention Partnership.
