Thames Valley Police launch knife amnesty

Operation sceptre is aimed at reducing knife crime

Thames Valley Police is joining police forces across the country by taking part in Operation Sceptre, a national week of action designed to reduce the threat of knife crime across the Thames Valley by removing dangerous weapons from the streets.

The knife amnesty will run next week, between Monday 14 November and Sunday 20 November, during which time members of the public can safely and anonymously dispose of any type of knife or bladed article. The knife amnesty bins are available to use all year round.

Permanent knife amnesty bins are located in the following police stations:

Loddon Valley,

Maidenhead,

Newbury,

Reading,

Slough

Additional knife amnesty bins are located in:

Reading; Waitrose Car Park, Caversham, Cintra Park, Coley Park Community Centre, Kensington Park, Orts Road, Tilehurst Triangle

Maidenhead; The Boy in the Boat statue, Desborough Park, Maidenhead Train Station

Windsor; Tesco, Dedworth Road, Vansittart Skatepark

Police say if you have any information about the possession of knives or criminal activity relating to this type of crime, report it online via the Thames Valley Police website or call 101.
