Thames Valley Police has now donated 10 vehicles to Ukraine after recently contributing a further two retired police motorbikes and a car.

Inspector Gavin Biggs and Sergeant James Mathews drove the motorcycles across Europe. Meanwhile, Detective Chief Inspector Mike Bettington and a colleague from the National Crime Agency (NCA) drove a Range Rover.

It’s part of the Pick Ups for Peace (P4P) initiative which has nationally donated more than 750 vehicles to Ukraine to transport personnel and equipment around the country.

DCI Mike Bettington said: “It’s really pleasing to see vehicles that would otherwise go unused making such a difference in Ukraine.

“Our Vehicle Recovery Scheme identifies suitable vehicles with no legal owner and minimal financial value to the force but represents great value to the Ukrainian military efforts.

“I would like to thank our colleagues in Bicester Workshops who volunteered their time to ensure all vehicles were roadworthy for the long journey and ready for their roles in Ukraine.”
