Police investigate sexual assault in Newbury

Man tried to pull a woman into an alleyway

Police are appealing for witnesses to a sexual assault which occurred in Newbury on 5 January this year.

The incident occurred at around 6pm in Trout Walk when the victim, a woman aged in her forties, was approached by an Asian male with dark hair.

The man inappropriately touched the victim over her jumper and tried to pull her in the direction of an alleyway off Trout Walk.

The victim managed to push the offender away and he continued to walk down Trout Walk towards the garages.

The offender is described as around 30-years-old with a slim build and was wearing dark clothing.

Investigating officer PC Emily Allen, based at Newbury police station, said:

“This was a distressing incident for the victim, who thankfully, although shaken, was not injured.

“I am appealing to anybody who may have been in the area of Trout Walk or surrounding roads to contact us if you have information that can assist this investigation.

“If anybody has dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell footage from around 6pm on 5 January, please check this and get in touch if it has captured anything that could help.
