Car fire mystery continues in Hook
There have been seven fires since the start of November
Police are appealing for information and witnesses following a car fire in Hook near basingstoke.
Police were called on Sunday 29 December to a report that a Seat car was on fire on Memorial Road. It is believed the fire started at around 4.20am.
A second vehicle, a Mercedes, was also damaged. No injuries have been reported.
Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting the crime reference number 44240563300.
It's the seventh vehicle fire since the start of November.
Incidents
A Peugeot had been set on fire on Holt Way between 2am and 3am on Monday 2 December (44240523977).
Two Fiat 500s had been set on fire on Redes Close between 2am and 3am on Monday 2 December (44240524030 / 44240524036).
Three cars, a BMW I3, Fiat 500 and a Mini Cooper had been set on fire on Station Road between 4.35am and 4.50am on Friday 1 November (44240475309).
Witnesses
Police Sergeant Geoff Hill said:
“We fully appreciate that these incidents have caused concern in the local community.
“However, I would like to reassure you that we are taking all of these reports extremely seriously.
“Our teams are carrying out a number of enquiries and we will be increasing our patrols to provide reassurance and to progress the investigation.
“We have also been reviewing CCTV, however the pictures aren’t the best quality, so we would like to appeal to anyone who may have images or information which could help.
“If you saw anything suspicious, or if you have footage which could help our enquiries, please get in touch.”
