Seven arrested after fight in Reading

One person was treated for a stab wound

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to an affray in Reading.

At around 6.35pm on Sunday (22/9), violent disorder broke out between seven people at the car park under Basing House on Portman Road.

A man in his twenties was stabbed in the arm and required hospital treatment. He has been discharged.

A woman in her twenties sustained an injury to her thumb which required hospital treatment. She has been discharged.

Four others sustained minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

A 60-year-old woman, 64-year-old man, 38-year-old woman, 24-year-old woman, 32-year-old woman, 24-year-old and 23-year-old man, all from Reading, were arrested on suspicion of affray.

They all remain in custody.

Reassure

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Stuart Streeter said:

“We are continuing to investigate this as a priority.

“I understand that this may cause concern but I would like to reassure the community that this was an isolated and targeted incident with no threat to the wider public.

“We are appealing for witnesses, or anyone with information, dash-cam or doorbell footage to please come forward.
