Berkshire-based Police officer charged with assault

The serving officer Thames Valley Police officer has been suspended from duty

A serving Thames Valley Police officer has been charged with assault and a public order offence in Bracknell.

Sergeant William Gilbert, who is based at Maidenhead police station, was charged with one count of assault and one count of using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress.

The charge is in connection with an incident, which happened at the Admiral Cunningham public house in Bracknell, on the evening of 9 August 2022.

Sgt Gilbert, who is currently suspended from duty, was charged on 6 January and will appear before Reading Magistrates’ Court on 26 January.
