A number of people - including a 10-year-old girl - have been taken to hospital following a multi-vehicle crash on the M4 near Heathrow.

Emergency services were called to the scene yesterday afternoon (Sunday 1 May).

The M4 was closed eastbound between J4 to J3 and traffic was also held westbound as a result, causing huge delays in the area.

Westbound traffic was released just before 4.00pm yesterday afternoon. All eastbound lanes opened at around 12.24am today.

On Twitter, Hillingdon Police said: "The M4 is closed eastbound at J3 after a serious collision involving multiple vehicles.

"Officers responded with ambulance and fire crews. A number of people were taken to hospital, including a 10-year-old girl.

"We await updates on their injuries."
