Arrests after fight with 'bladed weapons' in west Reading

A Section 60 order has been put in place in Tilehurst in west Reading following a violent incident on Tuesday night.

Officers were called at about 6.45pm to reports of a group of men fighting with bladed weapons in Eddleston Way.

Two people have been arrested in connection with this incident and are currently in police custody.

It is not believed anyone was seriously injured.

'Concerning incident'

Inspector Elliot Male, based at Reading police station, said:

“This was a concerning incident, and as a result, we have taken the decision to put a Section 60 order in place for a period of 24 hours.

“This means that our officers will have increased powers to carry out stop and search checks.

“Because of this, people will see more officers in the area – please try not to be concerned but this. They are there to carry out an investigation and they will do their best to answer any questions or concerns you might have, so feel free to approach them.

“If you have any information about the altercation earlier this evening, please get in touch as soon as possible by calling us on 101, quoting reference number INC-20240723-1932."
