Police release second man arrested over Basingstoke shooting

Police say the 21-year-old will have no further action taken against him

A second man who was arrested in connection with a serious assault in Basingstoke will have no further action taken against him.

He was held over a shooting in the town earlier this month.

At 11.41pm on Wednesday, 1 February we were called to a playing field on Tewkesbury Close in Popley after a 19-year-old man sustained what is believed to be three gun-shot wounds to his leg.

The victim was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. He remains in hospital at this time.

An 18-year-old man from Basingstoke was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been questioned by officers and released on police bail with conditions.
