Cyclist seriously injured in collision near Reading

Incident happened in rural area between Reading and Wallingford

Police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision in Cholsey between Reading and Wallingford that left a man with serious injuries.

At around 9.25am Monday (25/10), a van and a cyclist were involved in a collision on the A417, close to the junction with Westfield Road.

The cyclist, a man in in his seventies, was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he remains in a stable condition.

A 35-year-old man from High Wycombe was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injuring by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation.

Investigating officer, PC Tim Cameron, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said:

“I am appealing for witnesses to this incident whereby a cyclist has sustained serious injuries after this collision.

“I would ask that anyone who was in or near the area in which this collision took place, to get in touch with us if you saw anything or have any information on it.

“Also, if any motorists in the area that have dash cam could please check as to whether anything significant was caught, as it could help our investigation.
