Hampshire air ambulance has busiest-ever month
The charity attended 274 incidents in July
July 2025 was the busiest month on record for Hampshire’s air ambulance, with the charity’s doctors, dispatchers, pilots and paramedics responding to 274 emergency incidents.
The service, which responds to critically ill and injured patients across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight 365 days a year, was most frequently called to: Basingstoke, Fareham, Newport, Portsmouth, Southampton and Winchester.
There was a 10% increase in missions when compared to the previous record (July 2024), with a particular surge in calls throughout the year for assaults (64), road traffic collisions (211) and cardiac arrests (257). The charity has also responded to almost 100 additional emergencies year-on-year.
Proud
Richard Corbett, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance CEO, said: “I am immensely proud of the response from our crew members, charity team and army of volunteers who continuously rise to the challenge. Not forgetting the enormous role everyone who has supported us plays.”
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is currently raising money towards its Operation Airbase appeal – a £3.6 million campaign to relocate its airbase and charity headquarters to a site near Southampton Airport. The move will dramatically improve response times for the majority of patients throughout the region.
Richard added: “As we continually respond to more and more patients, it is increasingly important that we are in the right place geographically to improve response times and get our highly skilled crew members on scene as quickly as possible."
