Jeffrey Black pleaded guilty to three charges

A man has been sent to prison for a number of burglary, criminal damage and assault offences in Reading.

Jeffrey Black, 46, of South Street, pleaded guilty to one count each of burglary, attempted burglary, assault by beating and criminal damage at a hearing at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday (25/11).

Black was sentenced to two years and five months’ imprisonment.

On 24 July this year, Black had thrown a pair of shoes at an employee in Deichmann on Broad Street, before kicking the security gate causing criminal damage.

On 28 July, Black attempted to gain entry to a property on Norcot Road.

On 5 August, he entered a property on Oxford Road, in Reading and stole a mobile phone.

Black was arrested by officers on 7 August and charged with the offences on the same day and was remanded to prison.

Investigating officer DC Amber Spicer, said: “Jeffrey Black is a prolific offender, and I’m pleased that he’s now been convicted and jailed.

“This demonstrates our commitment to tackling crime and protecting our communities.

“We encourage the public to report crimes in progress. Your local officers are ready to act quickly to deal with individuals who cause harm to our communities.”
