Man charged over Basingstoke burglary

A 46 year old man from Reading's been charged with burglary after an early hours incident in Basingstoke yesterday (Monday 2nd June).

Police were called out to suspicious activity at Old Kempshott Lane around 4.45am where someone was reportedly trying to gain access to a property.

A man was found by officers at the scene with tools including screwdrivers in a bag.

46 year old John Shrubsall from Moriston Close in Reading is due before magistrates today - he's charged with two countys of burglary dwelling one with intent to steal and going equipped for theft and the other driving a motor vehicle taken without the owner's consent.

The charged related to Monday's incident and the theft of jewellery at Waltham Road in Overton and the theft of a silver Audi car near Basingstoke train station both in March.
