Thousands of Reading Festival fans are arriving in the town ahead of this weekend's event.

Campsites around the Richfield Avenue site opened yesterday (weds) and many fans took the opportunity to arrive early. The main arena will open at 5pm on Thursday with the live music beginning on Friday.

Most fans took the shuttle buses to the site while others gave taxi drivers a good pay day!

105,000 fans will be at the festival which is taking place with strict covid policies in place. All fans have to prove their covid status before being allowed in. The festival site has been altered this year to try and create more space with two main stages (East and West) operating instead of just one.

A pop-up covid vaccination clinic is encouraging fans to get a jab with their "beer and burgers".

Ellen, Josie, Megan and Andy are all in their early 20's and say they "can't wait" to enjoy the live music, adding that covid won't stop them "you've got to crack on with it and have fun"

Hugh, Theo and James from Guildford are all 17 and say they're not worried about covid because they've "all had it" two of the boys said they'd also had their first jabs. It's their first festival experience and they say they are "super-excited" and looking forward to "late night live music and the atmosphere".

Isabelle, henry, Zoe, Jessie and Phil from Godalming say catching covid is "inevitable' but say it's worth it for the "music, atmosphere and friends".

Post Malone, Liam Gallagher and Stormzy are the headliners this weekend. Organisers are asking fans to "look out for each other" to ensure they stay safe.
